Forests and Ancient Things

I am filled to the brim with ideas and projects and words and life. My biggest challenge is time, and along with time comes my energy levels. As I experiment further and further with botanical medicine and energy work my energy levels become abundant, and I am better able to enter into the timeless now, where all the ideas and creativity can manifest boundlessly. I have so many dreams and so many webs I want to spin. In these blog entries I have decided to post old poems and new ones in the workings.

I have written this before but am writing it again: the blank page excites me like nothing else. I cannot wait to see what comes out next. I am most happy with the sensual world, and how it manifests around me. Catalogues of objects and images. When you look at an object objectively, it can become the most fascinating thing in the world. Endless stories within one image, endless stories linked to one object. Brooke Medicine Eagle says that "the true university is the forest". It is my true home. Here is an old poem I wrote about the woods. I was looking through all my old writing and couldn't even find a copy of this anywhere, this comes from my mom reading it aloud to me over the phone from the only copy I know of for sure.

scatter my ashes in the forest
that trees and ferns from me may grow
so when my children into the wilderness walk
their mother they will encounter
in the sway of branch and dance of myriad leaf
the fecundity of soil
it will be my spirit born again which will offer them
the peace inherent in standing pines
